How do the blackout shutter blinds work? Integrated honeycomb pleated blinds are fitted directly into the frame of the shutters, ensuring minimum light bleed and eliminating virtually all brightness when closed. When the blinds are pulled up fully, they’re almost impossible to see behind the shutters.

While no window covering can legally claim 100% total darkness due to microscopic light reflections, our Shutter and Shade system blocks out up to 99% of incoming light. It’s our most effective light-blocking solution available.

Plantation shutters are excellent at controlling light and privacy, but tiny gaps around the frame and louvres mean some brightness will always filter through — typically around 92% room darkening. For rooms where total darkness matters, like a nursery or a home cinema, our Shutter and Shade collection pairs shutters with a built-in blackout blind for near-complete light control.
Our Shutter and Shade range relies on a specially engineered frame that houses the concealed blind channels behind the shutter panels. Because of this built-in design, it’s installed as a single complete unit rather than fitted separately to standard existing shutters. Blackout blinds can be retrofitted if there is sufficient space, but it isn’t possible in all cases.
Yes. Just Shutters products are completely cord-free and safe for households with young children or pets. The integrated blackout blind glides smoothly within its frame without dangling cords or chains.

You can choose from our standard shutter finishes and louvre sizes (such as 64mm, 76mm, 89mm, or 114mm) combined with blackout blind coloured fabrics designed to complement your room decor. Please note that honeycomb blinds only come in one colour.
