We caught up with David Stansbury, the brilliant owner of Just Shutters Kent, to find out what drives his passion for shutters and what he enjoys most about his role.
David has been at the helm of Just Shutters Kent since 2012, earning an excellent reputation for his craftsmanship, reliability and down-to-earth approach. With a background in engineering and a natural talent for building rapport, he’s become a familiar and trusted name throughout the area, helping countless homeowners transform their spaces with style and substance.
What did you do before joining Just Shutters?
I was a Maintenance Engineer Team Leader at Lafarge Roofing. This hands-on role taught me the value of precision, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, which I still rely on every day, running my own business.
What do you love most about your work now?
Meeting different people and seeing their reactions once their shutters are installed. That moment when the room is transformed and they’re genuinely delighted, it never gets old. It’s what makes the job so rewarding.
I never let a day go by without…
Trying to speak with my daughters and grandchildren. It’s not always easy with everyone’s busy lives, but those conversations keep me smiling.
Best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
“Be proactive, not reactive and always listen before answering.” It’s simple, but it’s made all the difference in both business and life.
Five things you can’t live without?
- Family – everything starts there.
- Holidays – we all need a reset!
- Football – I’m a big sports fan, especially when it comes to football. I support Chelsea, while my wife Debbie is a die-hard West Ham fan, so match days in our house can get very lively!
- A good curry – spice is life.
- Trekking – nothing beats a walk with a view and some peace and quiet.
